How a Tonneau Saves You Cash
With petrol prices
on the rise again, it's any wonder people are trying to
get better fuel economy out of their vehicles, and if
your a ute owner a tonneau cover is the easiest way to
make your fuel last longer.
According to many experts, the
best way to improve a utes fuel economy is to leave the
tailgate up and cover the tub with a quality after
market tonneau cover. "Tonneau covers on ute tubs reduce
aerodynamic drag." said Ford's Jack Williams. "We've
seen reductions of about 8 to 10 percent on the F150,
which means the average fuel economy improvements for
the EPA city/highway cycle (test) is about 2 percent."
And from SEMA's Vice President for
consumer affairs Chris Horn "Pickup truck owners can
reap some of the biggest benefits in terms of improved
gas mileage," said Horn. "Air traveling into a pickup’s
bed runs smack into the tailgate, creating serious
resistance. Some people drive around with the tailgate
down, but this reduces a truck’s utility... Another
option is to top off the bed with a truck cap or tonneau
cover that will improve aerodynamics substantially and
provide more secure storage space."

Denilliquin Ute Muster
2004 Deniliquin Ute Muster
by Rosemary Harris - Journalist, Pastoral Times
THE 2004 Deniliquin Ute Muster was an "outstanding
success'' according to festival co-ordinator Kate Pitt.
Ms Pitt and the ute muster committee were thrilled with
the response to the ute muster, held on October 1 and 2.
Two new word records were achieved - 4012 utes in the
one place at the one time and 1328 people wearing blue
singlets gathered together in the one place at the one
time.
This was the first time the blue singlet record had ever
been attempted. Records weren't just being broken with
utes and singlets, there were record sales at the gate,
record sales un the Bundy Bar and record ute muster
merchandise sales.
While final attendance numbers are still being tallied,
it is estimated between 16,000 and 20,000 patrons
attended Saturday night's concert. Many of the ute
enthusiasts who attended the festival described it as
the best weekend ever.
The general behaviour of patrons was also positive with
police reporting no major incidents to the committee.
The new inclusions into this year's muster were also
received well by the crowd.
The spectacular bull ride was enormously popular with
thousands flocking to the arena to witness the thrills
and spills.
The tractor pull was also a welcome inclusion and drew
the crowd in. Norm Cornfoot of Somerton took out the ute
of the year category with his Kenworth truck which has
been transformed into a ute.
Second was Justin Kirwin of with his 1956 Pickup Chev
and Ron Barker of Glen Waverley came in third with his
1959 Ford Zephyr.
Niel James of Traralgon was drawn out as the winner of
the Holden V8 One Tonner ute.
The furthest travelled ute was won by overseas entrants
Jack Zaleski and Gene Bevens who shipped over their 1966
El Camino all the way from the USA for the muster.
Other winners were: Best 4WD Andrew Dougles
(Murrumbeena); Best Homegrown Ute (Postcode 2710) Clent
Wilson; Feral Ute Mark Harris; Bundy Ute Ryan Brooks;
Best Town Ute Chad Silvey; Best Chick's Ute - Carin
Langenbaker.
The entertainers got the crowd dancing and swaying in
unison. On the Friday night, Adam Brand was so touched
by the crowd's response he could be seen wiping a tear
from his eye. And on the Saturday night, Jimmy Barnes
continued the party atmosphere and summed up the whole
weekend perfectly as he sung a few favourites.

Tuff Tonneaus
Introduces the Max Liner
Tuff
Tonneaus introduces the toughest Ute liner yet – the Max
Liner. This new product is in a league above all other
Ute liners with improved thickness and no drill systems
as standard.
Setting a new
benchmark in the Ute liner market, the Max Liner has an
increased thickness of three millimetres offering the
Ute tub greater protection than ever before and the Ute
owner peace of mind that their tub will be protected and
as good as new when it comes time to trade the vehicle
in.
Due to its
innovative fabrication, the Max Liner requires
absolutely no drilling to attach it to tub of the Ute.
Most Max Liners utilise a locking cam that locks under
the inside edge of the tub to keep it secure. This
locking cam doubles as a tie down point so factory tie
down points are replaced in most cases.
Tuff Tonneaus
Managing Director, Nicholas Arthur expects the Max Liner
will provide consumers with a number of advantages over
traditional Liners.
“Unlike most Ute
liners, the Max Liner is three millimetres thick, not
two, which gives the consumer peace of mind knowing
their ute is protected by the thickest liner on the
market. It also comes standard with chrome tie down
points that double as locking cams to secure the liner
to the tub, which are not only useful, they look great
too.”
The Max
Liner is now available as part of Tuff Tonneaus
extensive range of Ute and Tonneau accessories, and
available from Autobarn and other leading outlets.

is easily fitted to any Ute. It can be attached to the
tub, either via the floor or walls or alternatively
factory supplied bolts can be used to fit the Max Tie
Down.
Tuff Tonneaus Managing Director, Nicholas Arthur expects
the Max Tie Down will provide consumers with a number of
advantages over traditional tie downs.
“The Max Tie Down offers Ute owners a sophisticated,

When it comes to good looks
on the road
Lazerback puts you way out in front
Always one step ahead in
delivering quality products that respond to market
desires, Tuff Tonneaus – Australia’s leading
manufacturer of tonneaus – has launched the very
sharp looking Lazerback hard tonneau.
Lazerback achieves visual perfection by appearing in
all respects to be an integral part of a vehicle’s
original equipment.
Born from space age technology, Lazerback is the
slimmest, lowest and smoothest lid around. Slick and
impressive, it outclasses any rival and combines the
style and strength that many ute owners have been
seeking.
“It features a 3mm thin aircraft-grade aluminium
surface which is vastly superior to traditional
fibreglass and plastic lids,” explains Steven
Taylor, Tuff Tonneaus’ Sales and Marketing Manager.
“We use the renowned BASF basecoat/clear coat paint
process to achieve an ultra high gloss finish that
perfectly matches factory colours.”
Underneath, Lazerback is fully marine-carpeted and
its soft rubber seal keeps out dust and water. Yet
beneath its exceptionally impressive styling lies
the extraordinary strength that promises excellent
durability.
To meet both business and personal needs, Lazerback
provides the confidence of triple-lock security –
plus the convenience of being able to be removed in
just 1 minute.
As with all Tuff Tonneau lids, Lazerback comes with
a lifetime structural warranty – and each Lazerback
is backed by a lifetime paint warranty.
One thing’s for certain: when a Lazerback boosts
your image on the road, you earn envious glances
from the many drivers who aspire to own a vehicle as
immaculate as yours.
